Applying For Housing
Applying For Housing
Kitchener Housing has two types of rental units — Market Rent (MR) and subsidized housing, with the majority of our portfolio being Rent Geared to Income (RGI). The process to apply for housing is different for each type of unit.
MR Housing
We are not accepting market rent applications at this time.
Approximately thirty (30) percent of Kitchener Housing units are rented at Market Rent. This means the applicants applying for these units should expect to pay rent that is more similar to rent paid in the private market place.
RGI Housing
You cannot apply for RGI Housing through Kitchener Housing directly.
To apply for RGI or subsidized rental housing, you must apply through the Region of Waterloo Community Housing Access Centre.
